Developer Bio
I am a game developer who originally established a career in music, working as an educator, musician, and sound engineer. A severe hand injury, which halted their musical practice, prompted a significant change in direction. Driven by a long-standing passion, Marty pursued an undergraduate degree in Computer Science with the specific goal of moving into the only other creative field they deeply admired: video game development.
Endure
- Controls: Uses Gamepad.
- Audio: No Sound.
- Description: This is, in fact, a three-dimensional scene composed of 3D objects, despite the two-dimensional appearance resulting from the camera's perspective. When a constant resistance force is applied against the long axis of a cylinder, the object appears to be a circular disc traveling laterally. Due to the close proximity of the camera to the cylinder's central axis (the "pole"), the object is visually perceived as a circle in horizontal flight, even though its movement is actually a vertical drop, leveraging the natural gravitational acceleration inherent to the unity engine.
Pogo
- Context: Week 3 | Image + Constraint.
- Audio: No Sound.
- Controls: Uses Space Bar to jump.
- Description: Given the severe constraint of limiting all player actions within the game to a single spacebar input, and the presentation of a black-and-white, dithered image of a globe, the entire scenario appears to be an elaborate preamble designed to elicit one crucial inquiry: Upon whom must we ascend to secure victory?
Sincere
- Controls: LMB to plant flower.
- Description: Inspired by the core ethos of the "Hopecore" meme prompt, I chose to apply a sincere and transformative inversion to its inherent memetic structure. This approach allows the player to fully immerse themselves in the song's entire duration, culminating in a dramatic shift: the emergence from a state of suffocating tunnel vision into a boundless world where every participant inevitably leaves a distinct, beautiful, and unique mark. The game is architected to incentivize prolonged, continuous operation, thereby offering players the profound experience of encountering the persistent trails and legacies of others. Inevitably, however, the cycle is destined to conclude when a new player initiates a system reset, thus giving rise to another fresh, unmarked genesis.
Promises

- Core Experience: The fundamental experience of this game is centered on the interplay between texture and velocity. The player's journey involves ascending vertical formations—metaphorical towers of dense black fur—leading toward intense, singularly prominent moments. During these climaxes, the player's camera strategically maintains a distanced perspective, allowing the audience (and player) to fully engage in the anticipation of success.
- Camera System: While intentionally restrictive, the camera offers an intuitive feedback mechanism:
- Insight View: Should a player express frustration and desire immediate insight into the action, the camera is designed to transition into a consistent, medium-distance side shot when positioned precisely alongside the player's character.
- Tripod View: Conversely, if the player's character is within a specific angular tolerance directly ahead or behind the camera's current focus, the perspective immediately [transitions] to a stationary, tripod-locked shot.
- Thematic Meaning: The finality of the game's conclusion serves as an expressive metaphor for my persistent frustration and inherent inability to truly connect with other human beings. The earnestness and bravery required simply to stand here and allow for the possibility of being vulnerable is a measure of trust that transcends any conventional expectation or gift ever presented to me. Therefore, the underlying message I convey is one of gratitude for bearing witness: You are welcome.
Smooth Sailing
- Context: Week 7 | Tarot.
- Thematic Context: The combination of the Ten of Cups and the Wheel of Fortune delivered a reading that was initially joyful and affirming, but it has since collided violently with a desperate and frustrating phase in my creative life.
- Technical Status: The system is no longer functioning as intended; specifically, the physics and fluid dynamics intended to express that intense release (the "vomit" effect) have become unstable and unworkable.
Ascend
- Context: Week 8 | Beloved Game Studio.
- Controls: use headphones | use arrows to input code | when two arrows you choose which side of tower to climb.
- Narrative: In the pivotal year of 1988, the company Beloved underwent a leveraged buyout orchestrated by a private religious organization. This new ownership immediately installed an external CEO into the company's leadership. This dramatic shift was the direct catalyst for the development of the game Ascend, which stands as their sole creation with an explicit religious affiliations.
Bigots
- Audio: No Sound. The original soundscape, characterized by brutal and aggressive frequencies, was intentionally removed from the final iteration due to genuine concerns regarding audience aural safety.
- Controls: Uses wasd + mouse | LMB to see dialog.
- Description: Fundamentally, however, the game is a direct confrontation with the insidious nature of bigotry, transphobia, and the pervasive failure of individuals to engage with my personal experiences in an open or authentically honest manner.
SkyCorn
- Context: Week 10 | Renovation -> Yin Week 5 Corn Game.
- Audio: No Sound.
- Controls: Uses wasd + mouse | LMB to suck up corn | Use it to power the flying carpet.
- Development: The project subsequently underwent expansion and development, leading to its current form as an online multiplayer experience.
WPF
- Context: Week 11 | Alternative Manuals.
- Simulation: Whale v Pirate v fisherman simulation.
- Audio: No Sound.
- Controls: Uses Mouse only | LMB to add unit | LMB to force impulse in units.
Dirty Talk
- Context: Week 12 | One Shot / Sex Game.
- Controls: Use Headphones | type word | shoot your shot.
- Description: My formative exposure to an overabundance of Flash-era erotic games served as a paradoxical inspiration. Consequently, I set out to construct a work that offers a far more depressing and conceptually intense exploration of sexual interaction than its predecessors.
The Delicate
- Goal: Transport the emotional box to the end of the bridge. There is magnetic poetry words along the wall to help.
- Format: While this game is fundamentally designed as an online multiplayer experience, for the purposes of tonight's session, you will be engaging with it as a singular player.
- Inspiration: This entire creative endeavor was born from a period of intense personal trauma: the aftermath of a gutting relational breakdown followed by a six-month onslaught of abuse, transphobia, and systemic erasure.
- Core Meditation: This experience forced me into a deep meditation on the essential nature of communication, the cultivation of empathy, the fragile architecture of trust, and the methods by which we navigate each other's complex emotional landscapes. Crucially, meaningful engagement demands that we not only connect with others' present emotional states, but that we also recognize and accept the historical context of their pasts.
